CASTIGLIONCELLO
|
| |
|

|
The turistic fame of Castiglincello
started in the second half of XIX c., with its mild climate
and beautiful landscape. Nowadays
it is one of the most famous seaside of the Thyrrenian Coast,
well known both in Italy and abroad, for its wonderful
landscape, for the quality and finesse of facilities,
for its high-level cultural events.
Indeed we may state that, in the whole area, Castiglioncello
is the core of many cultural activities
in the fields of dance, theatre
and so on, that usually take place in the wonderful set of
Pasquini Castle.
Castiglioncello was considered an important
archeological site because there were found many ancient
graves. Once Castiglioncello had a huge maritime trade with
its linked activities.

A Medicean tower, placed at
the end of promontory, is worth of note: this tower was built
up during the XVI c. to defend the village against the terrible
raids of Saracen pirates. A common trouble for many villages
along the coast in that period.

| QUERCIANELLA |
| |
|
In the outskirts of Livorno,
Quercianella is immersed in the
green that flows into the sky-blue of the Thyrrenian
sea. It is a nice village both for Italian and foreign
tourists. Thanks to its mild climate throughout the year and
its wonderful sea, Quercianella has become a health resort
even during winter.

From the highest part, a castle
overcomes as a memory of a sighting Medicean
Tower, then turned into a dwell by the then Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, Sidney Sonnino, who was used to come and
have rest away from his commitments of the Roman politics.
In a ravine of the rock, there is still a granite sarcophagus
that keeps his remains.
This jagged coast, full of creeks,
beaches and marinas
offers every time several different places to discover. Its
quietness, its sea, the sun, its green of the rich Mediterranean
scrub have turned this area in one of the most known and pleasant
place in Italy.

And what about cooking? Here
you may find fish provided by the local fishers. A paradise
if tasted in a wonderful terrace of a restaurant that views
the sea.
And also, the opportunity to visit exhibitions
or attend dance performances in
the near the village of Castiglioncello,
or otherwise, a quick tour in the inside part of the Tuscany
region.
